“Fire Shield 2015” Exercise is Over at Bulboaca (video)



 

CHISINAU, October 2, 2015 — The artillery exercise “Fire Shield 2015” ended today at the military training base from Bulboaca.

Thus, shooting drills were conducted at the military training ground. The shooting drills were observed by Adviser to the President on National Defense and Security, Secretary of the Supreme Security Council, Alexei Barbaneagra, Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, Ambassador of Romania to Republic of Moldova, Marius Lazurca, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, deputy Commander of the 4th Infantry Division of the USA, Timothy J. Daugherty, as well as military attaches to our country.

The Minister of Defense appreciated the training and professionalism of National Army and Romanian Army servicemembers, who exchanged experience while conducting assigned missions. “The brotherhood in arms trained us to be interoperable with the Romanian army and other Euro-Atlantic armies and I am confident that such exercises will be organized more and more often”, stated Anatol Salaru.

The Ambassador of Romania to Republic of Moldova congratulated the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff leaderships on planning and organizing the artillery exercise “Fire Shield 2015” on a high level. Marius Lazurca said that this “proves the will to bring the National Army of Republic of Moldova to the level of performance required by current security conditions”.

During the ceremony, a group of Romanian soldiers were awarded the National Army medals “For Strengthening the Brotherhood in Arms”.

The “Fire Shield 2015” exercise aimed to capacity building and a better level of interoperability and brought together over 600 servicemembers from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Brigades, Anti-Air Missile Regiment, Artillery Unit, the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, Guard Battalion, the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, as well as a Romanian soldiers platoon from the 52nd Mixed Artillery Regiment from Barlad.

During the exercise, the participants used different types of weapons: 2A-36, 2 S9 NONA cannon, M-30, MT-12 mortar, D-20 mortar, ZU-23-2 and AZP-57 anti-air artillery, as well as HMMWV, TAB-71, BTR-80, URAL, GAZ, and ZIL military vehicles of the National Army.

The “Fire Shield 2015” exercise was conducted within September 3 — October 2, 2015.
