Anniversaries in the National Army

CHISINAU, October 16, 2015 — Three National Army units — Guard Battalion, “Codru” Engineer Battalion, and Center of Communications and Informatics — organized military ceremonies to celebrate their 23^rd anniversaries. On this occasion, a group of servicemembers and civilians were awarded National Army medals and diplomas for excellent results in the training process and work performances.

At the event held at the Guard Battalion, Deputy Defense Minister, Gheorghe Galbura, congratulated the military and civil staff of the unit for their entire activity at the service of the Moldovan citizens. Gheorghe Galbura specified that the Guard Battalion is the calling card not only of the National Army, but of the whole country. “The servicemembers of this unit participate in events and ceremonies of the highest level, such as protocol activities of the Ministry of Defense and other government institutions, as well as guard of the army’s most important facilities”, said Deputy Minister Galbura.

At the ceremony in Negresti, Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, appreciated the contribution of the Engineer Battalion, to the demining of the national and international territory, including Iraq and Kosovo.

Also today, the Ministry of Defense hosted a ceremony for the servicemembers and civilians of the Center of Communications and Informatics. “Throughout 23 years of activity, you implemented different programs and maintained the informational systems of the National Army, thus contributing to the development of the Ministry’s of Defense IT sector”, stated Brigadier Gen. Gorgan during the event.

To mark their anniversaries, the military units organized activities comprising wrestling exercises presented by the Special Forces Battalion, square bashing techniques presented by Honor Guard soldiers, as well as equipment, vehicles, and weapons exhibitions. The Presidential Orchestra presented a musical program.
