Special Forces Battalion Wins Defense Minister’s CupCHISINAU, October 16, 2015 — Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” servicemembers won the Defense Minister’s Cup at the military skills competition, which is a National Army sports event held at the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” within October At the awarding ceremony, Deputy Defense Minister, Alexandru Cimbriciuc, stated that the organization of such events proves how important is the physical training for the National Army. Alexandru Cimbriciuc mentioned the Moldovan servicemembers who won national and international competitions as a proof that sport is a prospective subject in the military units. According to Head of Joint Training and Doctrine Directorate, Col. Octavian Varzari, the competition brought together 160 soldiers from 12 National Army units, who competed in: triathlon, pentathlon, hand-grenade throwing, pistol shooting, weight lifting, and 3,000 meters and 10,000 meters distance running. The Defense Minister’s Cup is held yearly and brings together conscripts and servicemembers from all the National Army units. |
