EOD Engineers Neutralize 52 Explosive Objects in OctoberCHISINAU, November 2, 2015 — In October, National Army EOD engineers neutralized 52 explosive objects in different regions of the country. According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, specialist, EOD Division of the National Army, in this period, the EOD engineers were called in 25 times to Anenii Noi, Calarasi, Stefan Voda, Causeni, and Ungheni districts. The source specified that, recently, the Engineer Battalion from Negresti went to Plop-Stiubei village, Causeni district, where 11 artillery projectiles of 76 mm caliber and three bomb-launcher bombs of 82 mm caliber were discovered in the nearby forest. In Cornesti town, Ungheni district, six artillery projectiles of 122 mm caliber were found during the works at a summer camp. LTC Chilivnic mentioned that all the explosives dated back to World War II and were destroyed under maximum security conditions. This year, the National Army EOD engineers destroyed 441 explosive devices throughout the country. |
