Ammunition Disposed of in Causeni and Rezina



CHISINAU, April 1, 2016 — In March, the National Army EOD engineers disposed of 94 explosive objects in Causeni, Stefan-Voda, Rezina, Soroca, Orhei, and Ungheni districts.

According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, Chief of EOD Service, Land Forces Command, recently, the engineers of the EOD Battalion from Negresti, commanded by Cpt. Alexandru Procopciuc, went to Causeni district, where they neutralized 60 explosive objects — 12 artillery projectiles of 76 mm caliber, two hand-grenades, 46 bullets of various calibers, dating back to World War II, that had been found in the forest near Plop-Stiubei village.

Also in March, the EOD engineers of “Moldova” Brigade from Balti destroyed 31 artillery projectiles of 37 mm caliber in Papauti village, Rezina district. The ammunition of German origins was discovered by a local citizen while working in his garden. The service members transported the projectiles in a secure place and destroyed the under maximum security conditions.

Since the beginning of 2016, the National Army EOD engineers were called in 34 times throughout the country, where they disposed of 112 explosive objects.
