“Moldova” Brigade Marks 24th Anniversary
CHISINAU, April 8, 2016 — Today, “Moldova” Brigade has service members who tested their abilities in foreign missions, international and national exercises, proving that they are true professionals. A proof of this is the state order “Credinta Patriei” (Loyalty to Motherland), 1st class, awarded to the unit in September, 2015. The statement was made by Deputy Minister of Defense, Alexandru Cimbriciuc, during the ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of “Moldova” Brigade from Balti.
Alexandru Cimbriciuc congratulated the unit’s staff and awarded military ranks and diplomas to a group of military and civil employees. The Deputy Defense Minister specified that each soldier of the Brigade, as well as of the entire National Army, faces important missions that require commitment, knowledge, and involvement. “I am sure that together we will be able to achieve all the set goals, showing your professionalism and skills”, said the Deputy Minister of Defense.
Commander of the unit, Col. Valeriu Chilaru, said that, last year, “Moldova” Brigade planned and hosted a series of national and multinational exercises — “Joint Effort”, “Agile Hunter”, “Northern Shield”, “Under Clear Sky” — ensuring high quality training conditions for the contingents coming from different countries.
Col. Chilaru added that the military unit represents a school of discipline and skills for thousands of young people from the Northern part of our country, who do their military service in “Moldova” Brigade.
During the ceremony, the unit’s soldiers demonstrated wrestling exercises, tactical elements of the mortar units, and organized a weapons and military vehicles exhibition. The Brigade’s orchestra presented an instrumental music program.
“Moldova” Brigade was established on April 10, 1992.
