Vilnius: Anatol Salaru Meets with His Lithuanian Counterpart Juozas Olekas (video)
Vilnius, April 21, 2016 — Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru met today with his Lithuanian counterpart Juozas Olekas.
National and international security, regional issues, hybrid war, and NATO Summit in Warsaw were the main subjects discussed.
Minister Salaru thanked the Lithuanian official for supporting Moldova on both military and political levels, especially in training National Army officers in military institutions.
During the meeting, the officials analyzed the regional situation with a focus on the Ukrainian crisis and the hybrid war counteraction, a problem faced by both countries.
Anatol Salaru pointed out that the National Army is undergoing a reformation process, and Lithuania’s success in the defense sector is an example for the Republic of Moldova.
The Minister of Defense of Lithuania confirmed that he supports the Republic of Moldova in reforming and modernizing the National Army. Juozas Olekas reiterated that he will continue to support Moldova in implementing the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), which is crucial for the National Army’s development.
At the end of the meeting, both ministers agreed on strengthening the bilateral defense cooperation.
