Pavel Filip Attends the Ceremony Dedicated to the National Flag Day
CHISINAU, April 27, 2016 — Prime Minister Pavel Filip attended today a ceremony dedicated to Moldova’s National Flag Day, held at the Ministry of Defense HQ.
In his speech, the Prime Minister said that this holiday makes him feel proud, as the state flag represents our country’s past, present and future, the historical tradition, and it is identified with Moldova’s sovereignty.
‘’The state flag is hoisted at the headquarters of the most important international and regional institutions, at Moldova’s diplomatic missions abroad, symbolizing our country’s availability for friendship and cooperation, and is also a symbol of union for the diaspora. More and more citizens raise the flag at their homes and this fact brings us closer, representing us as a nation united in the wish to edify a prosperous future,’’ said Pavel Filip.
The Prime Minister referred also to the importance of the national symbol for service members in fulfilling the noble mission of guarding the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, as well as for Moldovan sportspeople, who bore the banner with dignity at Olympic Games, International and European championships.
The National Flag Day was established by the Moldovan Parliament on April 23, 2010. The tricolor flag was designated the official Flag of Republic of Moldova on April 27, 1990, by decision of the MPs of the first Moldovan Parliament.
