“Fire Shield 2016” Exercise Starts in Bulboaca



CHISINAU, September 12, 2016 — The multinational exercise “Fire Shield 2016” started today at Bulboaca training area.

At the opening ceremony, Commander of Land Forces Command, Col. Mihail Buclis, stated that this exercise is very important for the National Army of the Republic of Moldova because it insures the training of the artillery units and improves the interoperability between Moldovan, Romanian, and United States troops.

During the exercise, the contingents will carry out shooting drills from a covered position, shooting drills within platoon and joint batteries, and will train on driving combat vehicles.

“Fire Shield 2016” is conducted within September 11-24, 2016 and brings together 293 soldiers, out of which 233 from the National Army, 30 from the USA, and 30 from Romania. The exercise’s Commander is Col. Andrei Sevcenco.
