Infantrymen from Chisinau Celebrate Unit’s Day (video)

CHISINAU, October 13, 2016 — “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade from Chisinau celebrated today the 24th anniversary during a ceremony attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, veterans, soldiers’ parents and relatives.

During the ceremony, Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru said that, despite the National Army’s social problems and austere budget, the service members are well-trained, professional, and continue to serve the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. “Your professionalism is known both in our country and abroad where you carry out missions and where from you always come back with good results”, said Minister Salaru.

Brigade’s Commander, Col. Sergiu Saramet, specified that one of the unit’s leadership goals is to train the soldiers and to test their knowledge on training grounds. According to Col. Saramet, the results registered by conscripts and service members during the exercises in 2016 prove that this goal was achieved. The best soldiers were awarded National Army medals and diplomas.

The ceremony included a troops’ march, followed by military vehicles, weapon handling and wrestling exercises, an exhibition of weapons, vehicles, and equipment, as well as a musical program.

“Stefan cel Mare” Brigade was established on October 16, 1992.
