Specialized Training for National Army EOD Engineers

CHISINAU, October 24, 2016 — The Land Force Command (LFC) is organizing a training course on explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) at “Codru” Engineer Battalion from Negresti, within October 17-November 4, 2016. The course is attended by service members from National Army engineer units.

According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, head of EOD Service of the LFC, the 15 engineers study the types and methods of ammunition disposal, the EOD search, ammunition handling security rules , the consequences of explosions, stocking and transportation of explosive objects, as well as demining techniques. The course also includes practical activities on identifying, finding, transportation, and disposal of ammunition.

LTC Chilivnic mentioned that the training is conducted by EOD specialists from the United States European Command.

The source specified that the activity is part of a humanitarian project that has been started by the US Government in the Republic of Moldova in 2013. The project includes training for the National Army staff on explosive ordnance disposal, as well as donation of special equipment, such as: radio systems, computers, and equipment for specialized training.
