Brigadier General Igor Cutie is the New National Army Commander



CHISINAU, November 3, 2016 — Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru presented today the new Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, to the National Army Commanding Officer Corps

The Minister of Defense stated that the experience of Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, who participated in Moldova’s war for independence and territorial integrity and in the Iraq post-conflict relief operations as commander, will improve the activity of the National Army and the General Staff.

Anatol Salaru assured the new Commander of all the Ministry of Defense’s support will in achieving all the goals of the national defense sector reformation.

Gen. Igor Cutie appreciated the trust put upon him and expressed his conviction that, together with the National Army Commanding Officer Corps, he will fulfill the missions established by the State’s supreme leadership.

Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie was born in Ungheni, on March 12, 1968. He graduated from the Upper Military Engineering School in Kaliningrad, the Academy of Higher Military Studies, and War College in Bucharest.

So far, Igor Cutie served commanding and general staff positions within the National Army, the most recent being the position of General Staff Director.

Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie was awarded “Credinta Patriei” order and “Meritul Militar” medal.

President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, signed the Decree on Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie’s appointment as Chief of National Army General Staff, National Army Commander on November 3, 2016. The Decree, based on article art. 88 of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and art. 25. (2) lett. (i) of the Law on National Defense, comes into force upon the signature day.
