Modern Security Systems at National Army Ammunition Depots (video)

CHISINAU, December 21, 2016 — An integrated security system with video monitoring was put into operation today, at the National Army military training base from Bulboaca. The modernization project for the ammunition depots infrastructure was conducted by the European Union which provided over 90,000 EUR for works and security equipment.

During the event, Head of Logistics Directorate of the General Staff, Col. Iurie Bruma, stated that the EU assistance for renovating and securing the ammunition depots is welcome and falls under the projects for National Army’s infrastructure modernization started by the Ministry of Defense’s leadership.

Project Manager of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Jarek Domanski, mentioned that the new changes in the security and monitoring system will ensure an efficient control of military facilities and will contribute to increase weapons and ammunition security.

According to LTC Andrei Camerzan, head of Weapons and Military Vehicles Department, the project was financed by the EU, with the support of UNDP, as part of the SEESAC Disarmament and Arms Control Activities in South East Europe (EUSAC) Project.

The source specified that the integrated system includes equipment for the CCTV installation, as well as a high security fence surrounding the depots. The guard corps rooms were also renovated, in order to ensure standard conditions for securing and storing special equipment.
