Canadian Military Attaché Visits Ministry of DefenseChisinau, March 27, 2017 — State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Aurel Fondos, met today with military attaché of the Embassy of Canada in the Republic of Moldova, based in Bucharest, LTC David Freake. Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie also attended the meeting. The officials discussed the bilateral military relations and the prospects of strengthening the dialogue between the National Army and the Canadian Army. The Ministry of Defense’s reformation and its current stage of development were also discussed during the meeting. Aurel Fondos appreciated Canada’s assistance in the defense sector through equipment donation for the National Army engineers. The State Secretary specified that the equipment is currently used by military engineers during demining missions throughout the country. LTC Freake mentioned that he will make efforts to reinforce the Moldovan-Canadian military cooperation and will support the identification of projects that are beneficial for both armies. The defense cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Canada started in 1996. |
