Ammunition Visual Inspection Course Ends in the National Army

CHISINAU, June 21, 2017 — Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura attended today the graduation ceremony of the Ammunition visual inspection course within the Ammunition and weapons stockpile management specialized course, organized by the National Army Weapons and Ammunition Center from Chisinau. The event was also attended by Ambassador of Republic of Austria in the Republic of Moldova, Christine Freilinger and Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Steve Young.

Deputy Defense Minister congratulated the graduates and expressed his conviction that the experience gained during this course will be useful and beneficial both for the Republic of Moldova and the professional growth of National Army service members. “Such training activities are necessary for our institution as they contribute to the implementation in the National Army of ammunition storage conditions and requirements, as well as their management under maximum security conditions, in compliance with the best international practices”, said Gheorghe Galbura.

According to Chief of Weapons and Ammunition Center, LTC Grigore Rata, the training was held within May 29 — June 21, 2017 and included theoretical and practical sessions on National Army ammunition’s visual inspection, in compliance with the best national and international practices.

The source specified that the activity aimed to familiarize the participants with the practices, policies, and procedures concerning the structure, chemical composition and identification of ammunition, as well as possible risks during storage and transportation.

The Ammunition visual inspection course was attended by 7 National Army service members and 4 representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and the Security and Intelligence Service. The training was organized by the Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with experts from Austria, Germany, and Sweden, under the auspices of OSCE Mission in the Republic of Moldova.

The Ammunition and weapon stockpile management course is part of a training project on ammunition and weapons stockpile management organized under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense and OSCE on the implementation of the Complex Program on Small Arms and Light Weapons and conventional weapons in the Republic of Moldova, signed on October 28, 2010.
