National Army Commander Pays Official Visit to the USA



CHISINAU, July 11, 2017 — National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie is paying an official visit to the USA within July 10-12, 2017, at the invitation of North Carolina Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Gregory Lusk.

While in the USA, Gen. Cutie met with Director of the US Army National Guard, Lt. Gen. Timothy Kadavy and Director of North Carolina National Guard, Maj. Gen. Gregory Lusk and discussed about the military cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America.

During the meeting with Lt. Gen. Timothy Kadavy in Washington D.C. area, the National Army Commander appreciated the USA’s contribution to the reformation of the defense sector of our country, the troops training, and logistics support offered to the National Army through various assistance and training programs. “Thanks to your support we were able to maintain the army’s combat readiness and to start the defense institution’s reformation process”, said the National Army Commander.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Brigadier Gen. Cutie and Maj. Gen. Lusk discussed about the cooperation of National Army service members with the American service members of the North Carolina National Guard during joint training exercises and programs organized within the Partnership Program. Gen. Cutie thanked Maj. Gen. Lusk for the constant support offered to the National Army and mentioned that the bilateral exercises and joint training on military medicine, EOD, public relations, and other sectors, contributed to improve the professional performances of National Army staff.

The National Army of the Republic of Moldova and the North Carolina National Guard signed a Memorandum of Agreement on establishment of Partner Units between the two defense institutions, on May 3, 2013. The document aims to consolidate the relations between the National Army and US Army service members and to promote cooperation between the military units of the two states.

The partnership between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina started on April 22, 1999, by signing the Bilateral Memorandum of Intent aiming to facilitate the cooperation in the economic, cultural, scientific, academic exchanges, defense and civil protection sectors and the coordination of humanitarian efforts of governmental institutions and NGOs.
