Anti-corruption Training in Balti Garrison

CHISINAU, July 13, 2017 — The General Inspection Directorate (GID) of the Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the National Anti-corruption Center (NAC), organized a series of anti-corruption training sessions for the military and civil staff of Balti garrison, within July 11-12, 2017.

The activities aimed to inform and consolidate the knowledge of National Army staff from the northern region regarding the testing of professional integrity, conflicts of interest, whistleblowers’ protection, the system of symbolic gifts made within different protocol events, liability for corruption acts and corrupt behavior, as well as the establishment of an effective mechanism of operative cooperation between the public authorities and NAC in order to prevent and detect the corruption acts committed by the Army personnel.

The sessions “Professional integrity of the public official” were attended by about 200 service members and civil servants from Recruitment centers of Balti, Edinet, Soroca, and Ungheni, as well as from “Moldova” Brigade. They were informed about how to ensure institutional integrity based on the Law on institutional integrity assessment with a focus on the employer’s and employee’s duties.

The training is part of an information campaign for the Ministry of Defense and National Army staff regarding the danger of corruption and is conducted within the Action Plan on reducing the risk of corruption within the Ministry of Defense for 2016-2017.
