Artillery Exercise “Fire Shield” Is Over



CHISINAU, September 22, 2017 — The Distinguished Visitors Day was organized today within the exercise “Fire Shield 2017”, at National Army Military training base. The event was attended by President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, Igor Dodon, the National Army leadership, and military attaches.

The officials were informed about the exercise and observed a shooting demonstration using various types of weapons, such as: M-30 mortar, D-20 mortar, and MT-12 antitank gun.

The exercise was conducted within September 18-22 and brought together about 300 service members from National Army artillery units and over 20 Romanian service members. The goal of “Fire Shield 2017” is the joint training of artillery units and to increase the level of interoperability between the two armies.

The exercise “Fire Shield 2017” is organized in the Republic of Moldova for the third year in a row.
