National Army Commander Attends the Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense Session



CHISINAU, January 17, 2018 — Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie is attending the 178th Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense Session within January 16-17, 2018.

The agenda of the event organized in Brussels, Belgium includes topics regarding international defense and security issues, current challenges and threats and the Alliance’s contribution to their prevention.

The Chiefs of Defense will also attend a series of sessions concerning NATO’s partnership with Ukraine, Georgia and the partner states of the Mediterranean Dialogue and the “Interoperability Platform” initiative to which the Republic of Moldova adhered in 2014.

While in Brussels, the National Army Commander met with his counterparts from Romania and Ukraine, Gen. Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca and Gen. Viktor Mujenko. The talks focused on the national and regional situation, military bilateral relations, and cooperation opportunities.

The Military Committee meets twice a year at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, at the level of Chiefs of Defense to discuss NATO operations and missions and provide the North Atlantic Council with consensus-based military advice on how the Alliance can best meet global security challenges.
