Italy Donates Military Equipment and Vehicles to the National Army



CHISINAU, January 23, 2018 — The Italian Government offered the National Army a batch of military equipment and vehicles.

The donation contract was signed today during an event held at the Ministry of Defense and attended by Ambassador of Italy in the Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti, and the Italian military attaché, Col. Andrea Tiveron.

Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza thanked the Italian officials for the logistics assistance and specified that the equipment and vehicles will contribute to equipping the National Army and improving the service conditions for Moldovan service members.

Eugen Sturza also appreciated the Italian Government’s support for the National Army contingents deployed to KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. The Moldovan Defense Minister specified that our country aims to increase the number of service members in the KFOR operation and asked for the support of the Italian partners in reaching this objective.

The Minister of Defense also mentioned the financial contribution of Italy within the NATO/PfP Project on disposal of pesticides in the Republic of Moldova and training of National Army service members and civil servants in educational institutions from Italy.

Valeria Biagiotti stated that the Italian Republic is open to strengthen the bilateral military cooperation through identification of new projects that would benefit both defense institutions.
