The officials reviewed the current stage of bilateral defense relations with a focus on military and medical education, as well as exchange of experience in the communications and information technology sector.

The Minister of Defense appreciated the support offered by the Government of the People’s Republic of China in training Moldovan officers in Chinese educational institutions and specified that, so far, 24 service members benefited from training in specialized schools.

Eugen Sturza also appreciated the logistical assistance for the National Army — logistics transportation and medical vehicles, computing and communication devices, video conference equipment, water purification stations, and medical equipment for a total amount of 18 millions Yuan (30 millions lei).

Ambassador Zhang Yinghong expressed China’s availability to continue to support the Moldovan defense institution.

At the end of the meeting, the officials agreed on strengthening the military cooperation by starting and implementing new projects that are beneficial for both countries.

The Moldovan-Chinese military cooperation is based on the Agreement between the Ministries of Defense of the two states that was signed in Beijing on June 23, 2002.
