CHISINAU, March 5, 2018 — In the first two months of this year, the National Army engineers disposed of 12 explosive objects in villages from Anenii Noi, Criuleni, Straseni, Stefan Voda, and Telenesti districts, as well as in Chisinau city.

According to Maj. Nicolae Teleghin of the Engineer Service, in this period, the service members conducted 13 engineer missions destroying hand grenades, artillery projectiles, and mortar mines. All the explosive objects dated back to World War II.

The source mentioned that, in January, the engineer team of “Codru” Engineer Battalion, commanded by LTC Gheorghe Racu, was called in to Marianca de Jos village, Stefan Voda district, where three explosive objects were found during deforestation works. The ammunition — an artillery projectile of 76 mm caliber and 2 mortar mines — was destroyed under maximum security conditions.

Another demining mission was carried out in Bubuieci, Chisinau in February, where the engineers disposed of two artillery projectiles of 76 mm caliber which were found by locals during agricultural works.
