The Military Open “A Path Towards Life” by Donating BloodCHISINAU, April 3, 2018 — National Army service members and students of the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” donated blood today within the campaign “O cale spre viata” (A path towards life). The action was organized by the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Social Protection and the National Center for Blood Transfusion and aims to encourage the society to donate blood for saving lives. According to main specialist of the Military Medical Directorate of the General Staff, LTC Ivan Petcov, the Ministry of Defense organized collecting centers in the units of Chisinau, Cahul, Balti, and Ungheni garrisons. Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza, together with the institution’s chiefs of departments and the National Army commanding corps, donated blood at Military Compound 142. Eugen Sturza mentioned that, by launching this campaign, the Ministry of Defense wishes to raise awareness and to invite all citizens to donate blood. “Each of us knows someone with health problems — relatives, colleagues, neighbors, dear ones — so let us help them, let us do something today, because tomorrow we might be too late — let us donate blood and offer them a chance to life. I invite all of you to join the National Army service members in this week of good deeds and to prove that our priority is life”, said the Minister of Defense. About 500 service members from “Moldova”, “Stefan cel Mare”, and “Dacia” Brigades, Anti-air Missile Regiment, Artillery Unit from Ungheni, Military Compound 142, as well as students of the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” donated blood.
