International Students Pay a Study Visit to the Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU, May 16, 2018 — Today, a group of students from the Royal College of Defense Studies from Great Britain paid a fact-finding visit to the Ministry of Defense. The 18 civilian and military experts met with representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the National Army Commanding Corps and talked about Moldova’s security and stability prospects, the main threats, risks, and vulnerabilities on regional level, and the cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. General State Secretary Radu Burduja welcomed the students’ interest towards our country’s defense and security sector and mentioned that such events represent an opportunity for the Ministry of Defense to inform the international partners about the most recent initiatives and reforms. Chief of Strategic Planning Directorate of the General Staff, Col. Anatolie Zavtur, presented to the international students the National Army’s role and mission and the institution’s main actions in implementing the military reform. Col. Zavtur referred to the adjustment of the strategic legal framework — development of the National Defense Strategy and Military Strategy, the projects implemented with the support of international organizations — UN, OSCE, NATO, and EU. Col. Zavtur also informed the experts about the National Army’s participation in peacekeeping missions and operations and the military cooperation with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
