National Army Service Members Attend the Commemoration Events Held on Romanian Heroes’ Day (video)

CHISINAU, May 17, 2018 — National Army Commander, Brigadier General Igor Cutie, paid a visit to Romania within May 16-17, 2018 at the invitation of the Chief of Defense, General Nicolae — Ionel Ciuca. Brigadier Gen. Cutie, together with a platoon of students from the Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”, attended the events dedicated to the Heroes’ Day that were organized in Buzau, Romania.

In the evening of May 16, 25 Moldovan students alongside military from other 12 countries took part in the military ceremony and carried torches following the route Dacia Square — Trandafirilor Alley — Unirii Boulevard — Calea Eroilor Boulevard — Heroes’ Cemetery.

On May 17, the National Army representatives attended the military and religious ceremony of re-inauguration of the Heroes’ Cemetery from Buzau. Subsequently, the Moldovan platoon participated in the International Military Parade organized in the context of the Romanian Heroes’ Day.

Also today, State Secretary for development of human resources policies, military education and planning of resources, Vladimir Iliev, commemorated the almost 90 Romanian known and unknown soldiers who died during World War II at the Romanian Heroes’ Cemetery from Tabara village, Orhei district. The Cemetery was renovated by the Center of Military History and Culture of the Ministry of Defense and Romanian National Office for the Cult of the Heroes.

The event was also attended by State Secretary, Chief of the Department for Parliament Liaison and Personnel Welfare of the Ministry of National Defense of Romania, Nicolae Nasta, Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ionita, His Eminence Petru, Archbishop of Chisinau, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of Lands, as well as local officials.

The Heroes’ Day is celebrated yearly in Romania, on Ascension Day.
