Ministry of Defense Organizes Activities for Children

CHISINAU, June 1, 2018 — The Ministry of Defense is organizing a series of events on the occasion of the International Children’s Day, within June 1-3.

On June 1, the Center of Military History and Culture organized the entertainment program “Delightful Childhood” for the children of the National Army’s military and civilian staff. The program included presentations, competitions, games, dances, drawing on asphalt and paper, demonstrations and sports competitions with the participation of the National Army Sports Club. At the end of the event, the children were offered sweets, ice cream, and cherries.

At the Chisinau Circus, the service members of the Honor Guard Company presented square bashing exercises, while the Presidential Orchestra performed a series of military compositions during an event organized by the Ministry of Education, Research, and Culture for the children from socially vulnerable families.

Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza, together with a group of National Army service members, paid a visit to the children from the boarding school for orphans and children who are without parental care from Carpineni village, Hincesti district. Minister Sturza brought them sweets, balls for volleyball, basketball, and football, jumping ropes, chess and checkers games, and table tennis sets.

The awarding ceremony of the Painting Competition “The army as seen by children” will take place at the Center of Military History and Culture, on Sunday, June 3. The competition was organized by the Military Mass-Media Center within May 12 — June 3 and about 60 children up to 12 years old from educational institutions across the country participated in the contest.

The Ministry of Defense is organizing children’s activities aimed to promote the young generation’s patriotic education each year, on June 1.
