National Army Military Donate Blood



CHISINAU, June 14, 2018 — Over 300 National Army soldiers donated blood within the campaign organized by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and the National Center for Blood Transfusion on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day.

According to head of the Military Medical Service, LTC Sergiu Cirlan, Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza, together with 50 students from the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” and 20 service members from “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade and Anti-Air Missile Regiment, voluntarily donated blood at the blood collecting center from “Stefan cel Mare” Park in Chisinau, on June 14. Other 50 service members from “Dacia” Brigade donated blood in Cahul.

The source added that, on June 12, almost 200 soldiers from “Moldova” Brigade and 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion donated blood at the blood collecting centers from Balti city.

In April 2018, the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and the National Center for Blood Transfusion organized the campaign “O cale spre viata” (A path towards life) aimed to encourage the society to donate blood for saving lives. About 500 service members from “Moldova”, “Stefan cel Mare”, and “Dacia” Brigades, Anti-air Missile Regiment, Artillery Unit from Ungheni, Military Compound 142, and students of the Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun” donated blood during this campaign.

The World Health Organization decided to dedicate a special day to blood donors in 2005. Thus, June 14 was declared World Blood Donor Day.
