Service Members Study the Secure Transportation of Ammunition

CHISINAU, June 14, 2018 — The National Army Weapons and Ammunition Center (WAC) organized a training course on ammunition transportation under security conditions, within June 4-14, 2018.

According to chief of WAC, LTC Grigore Rata, the activity was organized with the support of OSCE Mission to Moldova and had the objective to familiarize the participants with the practices, policies, and procedures of organizing and conducting the transportation of dangerous goods, including ammunition.

The source mentioned that the participants learned the best national and international practices from military instructors of the National Army who were assisted by a group of experts from Germany and the Swiss Confederation.

The 12 graduates received their diplomas today during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Defense. The ceremony was attended by General State Secretary Radu Burduja, representatives of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Embassy of Germany in our country, and Armed Forces of the Swiss Confederation.

Radu Burduja stated that for the Ministry of Defense the safety and security during transportation of dangerous goods, especially ammunition is very important and this requirement can be met only by specialists trained in compliance with the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.

Thus, Radu Burduja thanked the OSCE Mission to Moldova and the partner countries — Switzerland and Germany for the support in conducting this course and implementing the Comprehensive Programme on Small Arms and Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition, signed on October 28, 2010.

The training course on ammunition transportation under security conditions was attended by 11 National Army service members and a representative of the Security and Intelligence Service and was held at the Weapons and Ammunition Center within June 4-14, 2018. The National Army undertook the responsibility from Switzerland to conduct the future trainings in this area.
