National Army Participates in “Sea Breeze 2018” Exercise



CHISINAU, July 6, 2018 — A National Army contingent will participate in the multinational exercise “Sea Breeze 2018” that will be conducted at “Shirokiy Lan” Training Center from Mykolaiv region, Ukraine, within July 9-21, 2018.

According to National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, 80 service members from “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade, 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, and the General Staff will be deployed to the exercise that aims to increase interoperability of multinational troops in peacekeeping operations.

Gen. Cutie mentioned that, this year, the National Army will participate in the exercise with 15 HMMWVs that will leave for Ukraine on July 7, following the route Chisinau— Tudora — Starokozache — Shirokiy Lan.

The source specified that, at the same time, four Moldovan officers will be stationed at the exercise’s General Staff HQ in Odessa city.

“Sea Breeze 2018” will be attended by military from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Italy, Greece, Georgia, Denmark, Estonia, Canada Lithuania, Republic of Moldova, Norway, Romania, Poland, United States, Turkey, Ukraine, and Sweden.

“Sea Breeze” is a multinational peacekeeping exercise in the spirit of the Partnership for Peace.

The National Army has been participating at the exercise since 2007.
