The Cooperation between National Army and OSCE Mission Discussed at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, July 9, 2018 — General State Secretary Radu Burduja met today with Acting Deputy Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Lajos Karakas.

The officials talked about the cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the OSCE Mission with a focus on the projects on weapons and ammunition stockpile management, professional reconversion and informing the population about the danger of unexploded ammunition.

The General State Secretary thanked the OSCE representative for the support offered to the defense institution within the theoretical and practical training activities for the National Army military and civilian staff, as well as for the donations offered by the Mission, actions that aimed to enhance the management of our country’s weapons and ammunition stockpile.

Radu Burduja mentioned the donation of two mobile kits for analysis and testing of powder and propelling charge of ammunition (QPAK-13) that were offered to the National Army Weapons and Ammunition Center (WAC) at the end of 2017. The General State Secretary specified that the equipment is making the activity of the specialists from the WAC’s Laboratory for synthesis, analysis, and testing more efficient.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense and OSCE Mission to Moldova on the implementation of the Comprehensive Programme on Small Arms Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition was signed on October 28, 2010.
