Moldovan Service Members Train at Babadag Training Area in Romania



CHISINAU, September 5, 2018 — National Army service members are participating in the multinational exercise “Platinum Eagle 2018” conducted at Babadag Training Area in Romania within August 27 — September 9, 2018.

According to contingent’s Commander, Maj. Vladislav Draguta, the exercise’s goal is to increase interoperability and the joint training for peacekeeping operations of the military of participating countries.

The source specified that about 60 Moldovan officers and NCOs from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade and National Army’s Military training base are carrying out shooting drills using their weapons, conduct missions of first aid in operation areas and practice command and control procedures at subunit level.

Maj. Draguta added that, this year, the National Army is participating in “Platinum Eagle 2018” with 14 HMMWVs. The Moldovan service members are training alongside military from Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and the United States of America.

The training is part of a larger multinational exercise “Black Sea Rotational Force 18” (BSRF 18) that is organized twice a year.
