Moldovan Service Members Train at “Rapid Trident 2018” Exercise in Ukraine



Chisinau, September 13, 2018 — The National Army service members deployed to the multinational exercise “Rapid Trident 2018” started training at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center “Yavoriv” from Lviv region, Ukraine.

According to Maj. Nicolae Frasineac, commander of the Moldovan contingent, the 70 officers and NCOs from “Moldova” Brigade and the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion are training within a multinational company consisting of Ukrainian, Romanian, Bulgarian, American, and Polish military, according to a peacekeeping operation scenario.

The source mentioned that the soldiers are carrying out missions of negotiation and mediation, missions at command and check points, convoy escort, patrol, and field tactical actions.

“Rapid Trident 2018” is conducted within September 3-15 and aims to increase interoperability between the military of participating countries and to train them for international peacekeeping missions.

The National Army has been participating in this exercise since 2006.
