Military from Cahul Learn About Integrity in Peace Support Operations



CHISINAU, September 20, 2018 — The service members of “Dacia” Brigade are attending a training course on “Building Integrity in Peace Support Operations” held in Cahul garrison, within September 17-20, 2018.

The activity is organized by General Inspection Directorate (GID), with the support of NATO Liaison Office, and aims to train the participants on identifying and preventing possible corruption acts that could negatively affect the international peacekeeping missions.

According to deputy head of GID, Col. Anatolie Ceban, during this period, the officers and NCOs from the Cahul unit are studying basic notions about personal and professional integrity and NATO’s anticorruption efforts within current peacekeeping missions.

The source specified that the training has also practical elements with scenarios having the goal of putting the acquired knowledge to use and is held by a team of NATO experts.

The course “Building Integrity in Peace Support Operations” is part of a series of actions undertaken by NATO in order to facilitate understanding regarding corruption risks, their impact on defense institutions, and the identification of practical actions aimed to build integrity, increase transparency, and enhance responsibility in the defense sector.

The activity is part of the NATO’s Building Integrity Program for the defense and security sector and is organized for the third time in the Republic of Moldova.
