International Conference Dedicated to First World War Organized by Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, November 21, 2018 — General State Secretary, Radu Burduja, participated today in the opening of the international conference “100 Years Since the End of the First World War”, organized by the Ministry of Defense, together with the Center of Military History and Culture and Hanns Seidel Foundation in the Republic of Moldova.

“This event, that is the result of an efficient cooperation between the defense institution, the academic and historical research environment, offers us the opportunity to remember the past, to turn history’s pages, and to see the First World War from another point of view, as a human tragedy that has taken millions of lives all around the globe,” mentioned Radu Burduja.

The official expressed the conviction that this activity will benefit not only the researchers and outstanding personalities in the field of historiography, but those interested in military history, especially the most important moments of the War, as well.

The conference’s agenda includes book presentations, sessions and debates regarding the results of the First World War and its current effects, decisions and final repercussions of the War, treaties, and the role of the nations participating in the conflict.

During the activity, there will be opened the photography exhibition “100 Years Since the Independence of Poland” that reflects the Polish dimension of the First World War.

The international conference “100 Years Since the End of the First World War” takes place at the Center of Military History and Culture within November 21-23, 2018, and brings together scientific researchers, academicians, professors and historians from Germany, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Hungary, and the Republic of Moldova.
