About 200 Soldiers from “Dacia” Brigade Wish to Become Professional Service Members



CHISINAU, December 19, 2018 — Over 300 conscripts from the 31st Battalion of “Dacia” Brigade from Cahul finished today a training course for professional service members of the National Army for the first time.

During the graduation ceremony, Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza congratulated the soldiers who have chosen to join the contract-based military service and mentioned that the National Army’s reform and Program “Professional Army” implemented by the defense institutions include also military training according to new training programs and concepts that were developed following Western armies’ models.

Eugen Sturza encouraged the graduates to make every effort and to learn as much as possible from the unit’s officers and NCOs corps who have experience gained in foreign peacekeeping missions and multinational exercises in order to be prepared to face the challenges of a professional army.

According to Commander of “Dacia” Brigade, LTC Sergiu Cirimpei, the 300 soldiers have been trained by instructors from the National Army, USA, and Romania, within a period of six months.

The source specified that, during this period, the soldiers have studied elements of planning, leadership at group, platoon, and company level, training techniques, combat procedures, and how to use the National Army’s weaponry.

LTC Cirimpei added that about 200 graduates applied for joining the contract-based military service.
