Committee for Organization of Commemoration Day Dedicated to Those Who Died in the Afghanistan War Convenes at Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU, January 15, 2019 — The Committee for Organization of Commemoration Day dedicated to those who died in the Afghanistan War convened at Ministry of Defense today in order to review the activities planned for this event. At the beginning of the session, Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza, the Committee’s president, mentioned the importance of good organization of the actions marking the 30th anniversary since the withdrawal of the limited contingent of military troops from Afghanistan and asked for the involvement of all related institutions. “It is important to honor the memory of our fellow citizens and to honor the veterans who participated in the war in Afghanistan. This is an objective of the Government of the Republic of Moldova for this year. I trust that all of us, those responsible for the organization of these actions, will make every effort to organize the event at the highest level,” said Eugen Sturza. During the session, the participants established the directions and roles of each department involved in the organization of the activities included in the Government’s action plan.
