Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Pays a Visit to Ministry of Defense



 

CHISINAU, February 12, 2019 — A delegation of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense led by Deputy Minister Igor Pavlovski is paying a working visit to the Republic of Moldova within February 11-12, 2019.

While in Chisinau, the Ukrainian delegation has met with Ministry of Defense officials — General State Secretary, Radu Burduja, State Secretary, Vladimir Iliev, and National Army Commander, Brig. Gen. Igor Cutie and discussed topics of mutual interest including the current stage of the bilateral military cooperation.

Other issues that have been discussed included the situation in Transnistria, the security problems faced by Eastern Europe, as well as the defense reforms of the two countries with a focus on the army’s professionalization, military staff’s training, and joint participation in bilateral and multilateral exercises.

The officials agreed on reinforcing the cooperation between the defense institutions of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine through joint programs and projects, also in the defense industry sector, that will contribute to the modernization of both armies.

The Ukrainian delegation’s agenda included visits to some National Army’s military units from Chisinau garrisons where they observed the units’ specific activities.
