Ammunition Arsenal Destroyed by Military Engineers in Causeni

CHISINAU, February 26, 2019 — An engineer team of “Codru” Battalion from Negresti disposed of 26 explosive objects in Causeni district.

According to Chief of Engineer Service, LTC Adrian Efros, the ammunition has been discovered by locals in the forest near Plop-Stiubei village. They informed the authorities who asked for service members’ intervention.

The engineers, commanded by Capt. Gheorghe Rotari, identified 23 bomb-launcher bombs of 82 mm and 120 mm caliber and three artillery projectiles of 45 mm, 76 mm and 100 mm caliber.

The source mentioned that the ammunition dated back to World War II and was disposed by the engineers under maximum security conditions.

Since the beginning of this year, the military engineers have conducted 11 demining missions throughout the country, disposing of 72 explosive objects of various calibers.
