Japan Has a New Military Attaché in the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, March 28, 2019 — Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova, Masanobu Yoshii, presented today to Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza the new military attaché appointed to our country and based in Kiev, Col. Daichi Sakamoto.

Eugen Sturza congratulated the military diplomat on his appointment and wished him success during his mandate.

The Minister of Defense also informed the two officials about the military reform’s current stage, with a focus on the program “Professional Army”, development of the NCOs, sergeants, and privates corps, implementation of the DCBI package, participation of National Army in peacekeeping operations, and other activities conducted by the defense institution.

Masanobu Yoshii mentioned that his country is interested in developing a partnership that would benefit both armies and, in this respect, the role of the military diplomat is crucial.

Col. Daichi Sakamoto stated that it is an honor for him to be the military attaché appointed to our country and that he will make every effort to start new projects that would contribute to increase cooperation in different areas.
