Provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 Discussed at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, April 11, 2019 — State Secretary of Ministry of Defense, Vladimir Iliev, met with the representatives of the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations (NCGM) from Sweden.

The officials talked about the Ministry of Defense’s achievements in implementing the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on “Women, Peace, and Security” and the reformation of the defense and security sector in order to strengthen the future cooperation in these areas.

During the meeting, the State Secretary appreciated the contribution of the NCGM in training the National Army staff on integrating the gender perspective in the defense sector and mentioned that it is necessary to continue this kind of actions in Sweden and the Republic of Moldova by deploying mobile training teams and organizing thematic seminars in our country.

The representatives of the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations stated their availability to organize trainings on gender equality and to offer advice and expertise for the revision and adjustment of the normative and policies framework from the perspective of integrating the gender dimension.

This activity is part of a series of actions aimed to implement the National Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security for 2018-2021 and the Action plan regarding its implementation, approved by Government Decision No. 259/2018.

The representatives of the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations are paying a study visit to the Republic of Moldova within April 8-12, 2019.

While in Chisinau, the delegation will meet with representatives of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova, UN Women Moldova, Embassy of Sweden in our country, and Information and Documentation Centre on NATO.
