The Joint Moldovan-Romanian Committee Meets at Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU, April 18, 2019 — The fifth reunion of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Defense Committee is held in Chisinau, within April During the sessions, the participants are analyzing the regional and military cooperation between the defense institutions of the two countries, as well as the prospects for its reinforcement. The main topics are related to the defense sector’s reformation and the achievements of 2018, the defense planning and logistics cooperation, military education, participation in military exercises, and operational medicine. While in Chisinau, the group of Romanian experts has met with General State Secretary, Radu Burduja, and talked about the support offered by the Romanian Government for the National Army’s modernization. On this occasion, Radu Burduja appreciated the educational offer for the Moldovan service members in military institutions from Romania, the assistance in developing strategic documents — National Defense Strategy and Military Strategy — and the training of Moldovan staff within bilateral and multinational exercises together with Romanian soldiers. The meetings of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Defense Committee are held yearly, based on parity, in compliance with article 5 of the Agreements between Government of the Republic of Moldova and Government of Romania on military cooperation signed in Chisinau on April 20, 2012. The first meeting of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Defense Committee has been held in the Republic of Moldova, on September 21, 2015.
