Moldovan-American Juridical Cooperation Discussed at Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, May 8, 2019 — Representatives of law services of the defense institutions of the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America are analyzing the best practices in the area of operational law within a workshop organized at the Ministry of Defense during May 7-8, 2019.

According to chief of Law Directorate of the General Staff, Col. Viorel Remesovschi, the activity has the objective to build the defense institution’s juridical capacities in the framework of the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) and to identify possible means of assistance for the National Army.

Col. Remesovschi mentioned that the service members of North Carolina National Guard (NCNG), Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) from the USA and the National Army are exchanging experience regarding the necessity to develop a professional career handbook and an operational law manual — resources that would be useful for commanders and legal advisors.

The experts are also talking about the expediency of developing and training the military jurists corps in compliance with international standards.
