National Army actively engaged in clean-up activities



CHISINAU, April 16, 2011 – National Army servicemen gathered over 120 tons of garbage within Hai, Moldova! National Clean-Up Campaign held Saturday, April 16.

On Saturday morning, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta ordered nearly 1500 servicemen to join clean-up activities. Groups of servicemen wearing protective suits liquidated illicit garbage areas in Chisinau and districts of the country.

Nearly 900 servicemen from Chisinau military units were engaged in clean-up activities in Botanica, Riscani, Ciocana, Buiucani, Posta Veche and Sculeanca sectors.

The Minister of Defense, along with 100 officers of the National Army Command staff, cleaned up Valea Trandafirilor Park from Botanica district. The garbage gathered from the area planted with trees and bushes was transported to legal trash dumps. Moreover, 200 students of Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy cleaned up a 200-meter area of the Bic River, where from about six tons of garbage were removed.

Vitalie Marinuta stated the National Army had always supported Hai Moldova Clean-up Campaign as a part of community.

„People should be aware of the fact they are responsible for their environment. The garbage should be thrown only in legal trash areas. Those who do not obey these rules should be punished. Thus, if we want to catch up with Europeans, we should behave like Europeans”, the Minister of Defense specified.

National Army servicemen gathered over 120 tons of garbage, including 74 tons from the districts of the country and 51 tons – from the territory of Chisinau, within Hai, Moldova! Clean-up Campaign.
