About 250 National Army Soldiers Voluntarily Donate Blood

CHISINAU, June 13, 2019 — National Army soldiers donated blood within the campaign organized by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and the National Center for Blood Transfusion on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. The action took place in all the military garrisons during June 11-12, 2019.

According to chief of the Military Medical Directorate, LTC Sergiu Cirlan, on June 11, 40 service members of “Dacia” Brigade and 60 from Military Compound 142, as well as 50 students of the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” have voluntarily donated blood at the blood collecting centers set up on the territory of their units.

Other 90 service members of “Moldova” Brigade have joined the campaign on June 12.

Every year, about 1,300 soldiers participate in the blood donation campaigns in order to replenish the blood banks, including those of the National Army.

The World Health Organization decided to dedicate a special day to blood donors in 2005. Thus, June 14 was declared World Blood Donor Day.
