National Army Service Members at “Saber Guardian 2019”



CHISINAU, June 14, 2019 — A National Army contingent is participating in the multinational exercise “Saber Guardian 2019” (SG19) within June 3-24, 2019. The exercise is co-led by U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) and Romanian Land Forces and the trainings are simultaneously organized at military training areas from Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.

“Saber Guardian 2019” is a field exercise that aims to increase interoperability among allied and partner states and to train the combat capabilities of infantry subunits.

The exercise’s scenario includes tactical exercises, multiple river crossings, vehicle road marches, shooting drills, as well as medical evacuation missions and first aid.

This year, the National Army contingent consists of service members of “Dacia” Brigade and it is stationed at Training Center Smardan from Romania.

“Saber Guardian 2019” brings together 13,500 soldiers from 14 allied and partner states: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Great Britain, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Ukraine and USA.
