The New Minister of Defense Presented to the National Army Military and Civilian Staff



CHISINAU, June 15, 2019 — President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, Igor Dodon, presented today the new Minister of Defense, Pavel Voicu, to the National Army Commanding Corps during a ceremony held at the defense institution’s headquarters.

President Igor Dodon congratulated Pavel Voicu on his appointment and specified that the duty of the new minister is to ensure the institution’s good functioning and a strong cooperation with the presidential administration.

The new Minister of Defense expressed his conviction that, together with the entire National Army Commanding Corps, the military and civilian staff, he will contribute to ensuring peace, integrity, sovereignty, and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

Pavel Voicu was appointed as Minister of Defense, by Decree of the President No. 1172-VII as of June 8, 2019.

Pavel Voicu graduated from Academy “Stefan cel Mare” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Administration Academy under the President of the Republic of Moldova.

The Minister of Defense has experience in law enforcement agencies. He worked in different positions within the Police Inspectorate Ungheni, Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption, National Anticorruption Center. He had the position of commissioner at Regional Police Stations of Calarasi and Cimislia, chief of Police Inspectorate of Buiucani district, and chief of Police Inspectorate of Bender. On August 22, 2017 he was appointed as advisor of the President of the Republic of Moldova for special missions.
