National Army Deploys a Military Contingent to Exercise “Sea Breeze 2019”



CHISINAU, June 28, 2019 — A National Army contingent will participate in the multinational exercise “Sea Breeze 2019” that will be conducted at Ciobanovka Training Center, Ukraine, within July 1-12, 2019.

According to contingent’s commander, Maj. Ion Cotofana, the exercise’s objective is to increase interoperability of multinational troops in peacekeeping operations.

The source added that, this year, the National Army has deployed 49 service members of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and five staff officers. They will train alongside soldiers from 19 allied and partner states.

Maj. Cotofana mentioned that the National Army will participate in “Sea Breeze” with 11 HMMWVs that will leave for Ukraine on June 29, following the route Chisinau— Tudora — Starokozache — Ciobanovka.

“Sea Breeze” is a multinational peacekeeping exercise organized in the spirit of the Partnership for Peace.

The National Army has been deploying service members to this exercise since 2007.
