Moldovan-German Meeting at Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU, July 3, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu met today with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to our country, Angela Ganninger. The meeting was also attended by the German defense attaché, based in Bucharest, LTC Christian Ziese. The military cooperation between the two countries and the prospects for its strengthening have been the main topics discussed by the officials. During the talks, Pavel Voicu mentioned that the development, consolidation, and modernization of the national defense system are his priorities as Minister of Defense. Minister Voicu also thanked the German Government for the assistance offered in training the military and civilian staff in military institutions from Germany, building National Army capabilities, with a focus on the safe transportation and storage of dangerous goods, including ammunitions, for offering support in implementing the projects in the military medicine field, and developing the capabilities of the National Army Weapons and ammunition center. The Minister of Defense referred also to the donation of five special vehicles for transportation of hazardous materials, as well as to Germany’s contribution within the NATO/Partnership for Peace Project on the disposal of pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova. Ambassador Angela Ganninger ensured the Minister of Defense that Germany is ready to offer assistance for the development and modernization of Moldova’s defense institution. The Moldovan-German military cooperation started in March, 2003, after the subscription of the Cross-ministerial Defense Cooperation Agreement.
