Minister of Defense in Dialogue with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova

CHISINAU, July 8, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu met today with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetov.

The officials talked about the Moldovan-Russian defense cooperation, the regional situation, and other issues of common interest.

Minister Voicu informed Ambassador Vasnetov about his priorities as Minister of Defense, that will focus on the sector’s reformation, implementing the “Professional Army” program, increasing the National Army’s participation in peacekeeping operations, and cooperating with international organizations and defense institution’s partners.

Ambassador Vasnetov congratulated Minister Voicu on his appointment and specified that his country is open for cooperation with the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova.

At the end of the meeting, Pavel Voicu and Oleg Vasnetov agreed on starting a dialogue between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and on identifying cooperation areas that would be beneficial to both countries.
