National Army Soldiers Train at “Sea Breeze 2019”



Odessa, July 11, 2019 — The National Army soldiers participating in “Sea Breeze 2019” are conducting trainings within the exercise’s active stage which started on Monday, July 8, in Odessa and Mykolayiv area.

According to Moldovan contingent’s Commander, Maj. Ion Cotofana, during July 8-11, the Moldovan officers and NCOs are training as part of a multinational infantry company alongside military from Ukraine and Georgia.

Maj. Cotofana mentioned that the service members are carrying out standard operation procedures at the checkpoint, cordon and search actions, as well as shooting drills using National Army’s and Ukrainian Army’s infantry weapons.

Moreover, according to exercise’s scenario, the Moldovan peacekeepers, together with Georgian and Ukrainian soldiers, are conducting actions of boarding and disembarking from the Ukrainian ship Yuri Olefirenko, using their military vehicles.

The source added that, previously, while stationed at Chebanka training area, the 49 service members of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion have been involved in landing actions by rappelling method from the Ukrainian MI-8 helicopter.

This year, the National Army participates in “Sea Breeze 2019” with 54 service members of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and the General Staff and 11 HMMWVs.

The multinational exercise “Sea Breeze 2019” takes place during July 1-12, 2019, in Ukraine and brings together soldiers from 19 countries.
